YouTube Hosts #YouTubeBLACK Event To Honor Top Black Creators on YouTube!

YouTubeBLACK was a a one of it’s kind event intended to recognize, honor and inspire the pioneering black creators of YouTube! This event, hosted by YouTube, included lunch, motivational speeches and a day of reflection for all. This special event celebrated diversity on YouTube while bringing many prominent YouTubers together in one space. YouTube execs were present to give keynotes on YouTube’s values and to show appreciation for creators. YouTube CEO’s Susan Wojcicki made it clear the platform is taking major steps to be inclusive to all.

Nicole Alston, the Vice President of Legal for YouTube gave an inspiring speech on her experience as a black business woman in the technology industry. YouTube had a number of guest speakers who shared their experiences in the entertainment industries. Russel Simmons, Wanda Sykes, #BlackLivesMatter activists and many other prominent creators came together to inspire and motivate all.

Family vloggers Jamie and Nikki, Naptural85 (recently invited to the White House) and GabeBabeTV were also in attendance! The YouTubers vlogged, tweeted and Snap-chatted the entire event on their respected social media platforms. Several people in the YouTube community we’re perplexed by the seemingly top secret event and wish there was more promotion of it. Many YouTubers vlogged about having to go to LA for a ‘project’ and would reveal details as the event draws near.

The event was held at the Andaz hotel in West Hollywood.
